Rebecca Shaw
Chief Scientist and Senior Vice President, Global Science
Dr. Rebecca Shaw is chief scientist at WWF. She works with diverse experts around the world to identify the emerging challenges to WWF’s mission and advance scientific inquiry to develop strategic solutions to those challenges. She leads WWF’s Global Science team, whose research agenda informs WWF’s global strategies and identifies tools critical to achieving WWF’s ambitious goals. In her role, Dr. Shaw integrates insights across ecological, social, and economic systems to find more effective interventions, measure outcomes, and inform smarter, faster decisions in pursuit of global goals for nature and climate.
Dr. Shaw is widely recognized as a leader in climate and conservation science. She has published extensively in top-tier scientific journals including Science and Nature, served as a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and serves as lead author and editor-in-chief of the Living Planet Report, WWF's flagship science publication. Her work has been featured in major media outlets including Bloomberg Green, TIME, 60 Minutes, and The New York Times.
