Gallery: Sculptures by Raku Inoue

For multidisciplinary artist Raku Inoue, intuition, curiosity, and a connection to nature are the foundation of creativity. Using plants and other materials foraged from his own backyard, he carefully arranges flower petals, twigs, and other organic materials into intricate sculptures of insects like dragonflies and stag beetles. “Letting the process unfold naturally often leads to outcomes I didn’t expect—which is part of the joy,” says the Montreal-based artist. These and other botanical creations, which he photographs before they begin to wilt, can be found in Inoue’s forthcoming book, Natura Insects.
