Tourism is a global driver for economic growth. In 2025, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the sector generated $11.6 trillion and supported millions of jobs worldwide. This vast network of tour operators, hotels, guides, and more offers opportunities to channel resources toward conservation and community well-being.

Along with governments, communities, and the private sector, WWF is building new, replicable opportunities where tourism fuels the protection of biodiversity and economic growth across the globe—from developing a nature-based tourism sector in Bhutan’s sweeping mountain ranges in the Eastern Himalayas, to growing community-led ventures along Madagascar’s pristine coastlines in the Southwest Indian Ocean, to supporting jaguar conservation efforts in the tropical wetlands of Brazil’s Pantanal. When we use tourism as a force for conservation in these landscapes, we can build long-lasting, innovative impact on nature and species.
