David Flickinger

Managing Counsel, Nature Finance and Investment

David Flickinger provides strategic legal advice to WWF’s Nature Finance and Investment team, focusing on impact investing, nature markets, and debt markets. He has over 25 years of experience in conservation and representing tax-exempt organizations.

Earlier in his career, David served as an expert on the structural and legal aspects of Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) transactions, and contributed to PFPs in Brazil, Bhutan, Peru, Colombia, the Yucatán state of Mexico, Namibia, and Belize.

Previously, David served as WWF’s Deputy General Counsel for 19 years. During that time, he advised WWF on transactions and litigation, tax-exempt organizations, conservation finance, intellectual property, and charitable giving.

He has a law degree from Stanford Law School and bachelor’s degrees from Northwestern University. Prior to WWF, David clerked for Chief Judge Gilbert Merritt of the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced in the securities group of Wilmer, Cutler, and Pickering (now WilmerHale) in Washington, D.C.
