Angela Bowman is Director of Freshwater and Food Systems Metrics at WWF-US, driving strategic alignment in metrics across the Freshwater and Food Systems portfolio and providing thought leadership in support of initiatives. Dr. Bowman has 20 years of experience in earth systems science, modeling environmental change and quantifying success through developing sustainability metrics in freshwater and agriculture. She applies systems thinking and scientific understanding with focus on asking the right questions to solve complex problems at varying scales.

Dr. Bowman leverages her passion for quantifying environmental change to remove barriers to practice change adoption through water stewardship and to understanding human interactions that impact aquatic ecosystem diversity. Prior to her role at WWF, she was the Principal Scientist for John Deere & Co. Sustainability Solutions, where she was responsible for driving environmental and agronomic solutions and unlocking economic potential for on-farm evolution of sustainable practices. She holds a Ph.D. in hydrology from Iowa State University and a B.S. in geology from the University of Iowa. She enjoys everything outdoors from camping and hiking in the mountains to bicycling the hundreds of miles of bicycle trails in central Iowa.
