WWF Statement on EPA Rule to Strengthen Clean Air Standards for Chemical Plants

Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final rule to significantly reduce toxic air pollution from chemical plants. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) issued the following statement from Erin Simon, vice president and head of plastic waste + business:

“We are just starting to fully understand the scale of the environmental and health impacts from upstream production. But many fence line communities across the U.S. have been experiencing these impacts for years.

“Today, the EPA took decisive action to protect these communities and ensure better transparency from the manufacturers that produce and release toxic chemicals into the air. This announcement, paired with an ambitious outcome to the global plastics treaty process, will hopefully be a turning point for communities most impacted by pollution.”
