WWF Statement on President Biden's Commitment to Double US Climate Finance by 2024

Today, at the United Nations General Assembly, President Biden announced the United States commitment to double US global climate finance to $11.4 billion annually by 2024. WWF released the following statement from Carter Roberts, President and CEO:

"President Biden made a significant commitment today to double US global climate finance to $11.4 billion annually by 2024. This announcement sends an important signal to developing countries that we stand with them in the fight against climate change. Adapting to climate impacts and transitioning to a net zero future will both require significant new investments, and the US is now committed to making a major contribution toward global financing efforts. This also signals to other world leaders that we are committed to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement heading into COP26. WWF stands ready to support President Biden in making this commitment a reality, and we call on Congress to approve the necessary funding to make good on today’s announcement."
