Biodiversity

Our planet is home to an extraordinary variety of creatures who each play a role in maintaining the resilience of our world’s ecosystems. Explore biodiversity by identifying species on your campus, graphing biodiversity statistics, designing biomimicry solutions, or presenting a mock news report.

💡 Warm up

Read the webpage about biodiversity aloud or watch the video clip from Our Planet and ask students to generate their own opinions about why biodiversity matters and what biodiversity they see in their own lives.

💻 Tech time

Video: What is biodiversity?

Show the biodiversity video to reinforce the value of biodiversity and explain why it is declining. Step outside and assess the biodiversity on your campus with the Seek app. Have them identify various species in their surroundings and see who can discover the most!
