  • WWF IJ Mexico 2026 Itinerary Final

  • Ill planned roads and other forms of linear infrastructure present substantial threats to local communities and ecosystems. Colombia's Green Road Infrastructure Guidelines provide a comprehensive solution to this threat, with comprehensive guidance to integrate environmental, climate, social, and engineering considerations through all stages of infrastructure development.

  • Linear infrastructure‚ – such as roads, railways, and power lines‚ – poses an array of threats to snow leopards, including habitat fragmentation, wildlife-vehicle collisions, the introduction of pathogens and pollutants, and more. Forthcoming guidelines will engage decision-makers and practitioners to not only protect snow leopards and their prey, but also preserve ecosystems that provide invaluable benefits for people, nature, and our climate.

  • This list has been compiled by the Infrastructure and Nature Coalition for COP16 participants seeking knowledge on how to support nature-positive infrastructure.

Thank you to the organizers of these side events for raising the profile of infrastructure as an impactful driver of biodiversity loss and degradation

  • Nature‚'s Technicians illustrates the vital roles that healthy wildlife populations play in a range of services crucial for our own existence‚ – from seed dispersal, pollination, and pest control to soil maintenance, nutrient cycling, and flood mitigation‚ – showing how they are the essential building blocks of functional ecosystems that are integral to the well-being of human societies.

  • The Green Road Infrastructure Guidelines (GRI) or Lineamientos de Infraestructura Verde Vial are detailed planning and technical guidelines that integrate environmental, climate, social, economic, and engineering considerations throughout the lifecycle of road infrastructure projects. They are designed to prevent, mitigate, and correct possible indirect and direct negative environmental impacts of road construction and to support national and local development while maintaining the surrounding ecosystems and communities. These guidelines go beyond greening road planning, design, and construction, to address the integration of land use planning and strengthening communication between communities, government, and the private sector.

  • Bhutan, with its rich biodiversity and commitment to conservation, stands ready to spearhead innovative environmental DNA (eDNA) technology for biodiversity monitoring. This pilot study establishes a groundbreaking initiative, exploring the potential of eDNA to enhance wildlife surveys and complement traditional methods, particularly concerning tiger populations and other high conservation value species.

  • WWF‚'s 2024 Living Planet Report details an average 73% decline in wildlife populations since 1970. The report warns that, as the Earth approaches dangerous tipping points posing grave threats to humanity, a huge collective effort will be required over the next five years to tackle the dual climate and nature crises.

  • In 2023, a pilot program in Washington State revealed that switching to bulk milk dispensers reduced milk waste by 56%, more than half! This builds on earlier research from World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Triangle Associates, which showed the potential of bulk milk dispensers to cut waste and lower costs in schools. To showcase these recent findings and the benefits of bulk milk, we‚'ve created an infographic that highlights how this simple switch can transform school cafeterias. Explore the data below to see the impact it could have on your school.
