Women in Kenya are becoming entrepreneurs, creators, and changemakers through a CARE-WWF Alliance program promoting leadership and sustainable livelihoods.
After receiving 35 beehives, one community group began harvesting and selling honey. Through trainings, they learned that every product from the hives has value. They began turning the wax, which they used to discard, into soap, lip balm, candles, and many other products.
In the words of Lucy Pateri, a mother of five children and a member of the Naretoi Lemongo Women Group, "It’s like discovering a new world filled with opportunity, creativity, and empowerment."
