Nepal is ranked one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world. Fortunately, Nepal is taking action to mitigate and adapt to climate change. WWF and CARE are working with communities there to develop people-smart climate adaptation strategies through a program called Hariyo Ban. The term Hariyo Ban is short for a Nepali saying that means, “Healthy green forests are the wealth of Nepal.” As part of the program, community groups help restore and maintain forests and conserve water sources in light of climate change.
