Diversity of Nature

What does biodiversity mean to you? Scientists and conservationists often talk about the importance of biodiversity, but many of us struggle to grasp its full meaning. Biodiversity is the extraordinary variety of life on Earth—from plants and animals to genes and ecosystems—and the vital roles they play to support all life. People play an impactful role in both the destruction and protection of biodiversity, so it’s crucial for us to recognize its value—both for our own well-being and for the health of the planet. World Wildlife Fund’s public service announcement “Diversity of Nature” helps to explain the meaning of biodiversity by connecting it to the diversity we see every day and highlights why it matters, and what is at risk if we don’t protect it.
